About the SSYO

South Side Youth Organization (SSYO) was established in 1992 to offer the south metro schools an opportunity to participate in competitive athletic programs and allow each member school a voice in the management of the league. At this time there are 23 schools participating in athletic programs with the SSYO. Each participating school's athletic director or appointed representative is a voting member of the SSYO Board.

The SSYO Board is the governing body of the league, making all decisions regarding rules for each athletic program and the financial management of the league, including setting fees for member schools. The Board annually elects a President, Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer from its membership. The Board hires an Executive Director responsible for the daily operations of the league, including making schedules for each athletic program, hiring officials, and monitoring the site supervision of member schools to ensure rule enforcement. The Board also employs an Administrative Assistant to assist the Executive Director in his or her duties. Both the Executive Director and the Administrative Assistant are accountable to and act on the authority of the Board.
